Hair Set is a specialized treatment designed to fix hair and fur that is beginning to loosen on hides and skins, also know as hair slippage. It can be used on raw, salted, or pickled hides, making it a versatile solution when early signs of hair slippage appear.
Hair Set works by converting putrefying protein into a permanent, stable material, forming a lasting bond that removes the food source bacteria rely on. While Hair Set is not a bactericide, it effectively halts further damage by stabilizing the affected areas and preventing continued hair loss.
In addition to problem hides, Hair Set can also be used proactively on good, fresh skins, focusing on areas most susceptible to slippage such as the backs of the ears, nose, lips, and eyes. For best results inside the ears, the surface can be cleaned with alcohol prior to application.
While hair slippage may sometimes result from disease, injury, or trauma to the animal, it is most commonly caused by bacterial damage from improper handling of hides and skins. See our articles on Proper Field Care and Proper Handling of Raw Hides.

Note: If the hair is mostly separated from the follicle due to bacteria, the damage is irreversible.

How long does shipping take?
Orders are generally processed and shipped within 1–2 business days. Most customers receive their packages within 2–5 business days via domestic carriers. Tracking numbers are automatically emailed once your order leaves our facility so you can follow it every step of the way.

Do you offer refunds or exchanges?
We stand behind the quality of our products. If you’re not satisfied, contact us within 14 days of delivery for a return authorization. Due to the nature of chemical tanning supplies, only unused and unopened products can be returned. Refunds are issued once returned items are inspected.

Are Advanced Tanning Solutions tanning chemicals safe to use?
Our hide and fur tanning solutions are not regulated for transport and do not fall under Prop 65. They are formulated for safe commercial or home use when handled according to the instructions. We recommend standard PPE—gloves, apron, and eye protection—for best practice and safety.
